Rael is the executive director of the Albuquerque Adult Learning Center, one of seven Albuquerque nonprofits to receive a $625,027 grant from the Albuquerque Community Foundation.
The foundation's 10th annual "Great Grant Giveaway" raised a record $625,027 for seven local nonprofits, up from $218,525 last year.
The grants were announced Friday.
The Adult Learning Center plans to use the money to build a medical clinic to treat wildlife, while the New Mexico Tribal Resilience Action Network plans to improve adaptation to the effects of climate change in tribal communities.
Not Our Farm plans to provide support to farmers who don't own lands, and the Transgender Resource Center of NM aims to provide support and safe spaces for transgender community members.
